There are a whole host of SEO tools available around the internet, some are good, some not so good. Some are free and others you may have to pay to use. Assuming you are fairly new to SEO (well it is a dummies site) i will only give you the free ones.

Google Keyword Tool

If you are trying to come up with some keyword ideas for your website, why not use the some data stright from the world biggest search engine. Using this tool, you can enter your website or ideas and Google will give you some suggestions. The tool is primarily used for PPC, but you can use the information to make informed decisions for SEO as well. Competition levels and average monthly searches are both good factors to consider when selecting key words. Do make sure you select only the exact check box in the bottom left to get accurate figures for natural search.

Yahoo Site Explorer

One way of checking how many backlinks you have is to use the Yahoo site explorer. But be warned, this tool is slated to be taken down in the near future. By entering in your URL, you can see how many backlinks you have by cliking the Inlinks button. To see the links from sites other than your own, select except from this domain and entire site from the drop down boxes. The other application for this is to see what backlinks your competitors have and use the information to your advantage.

Find out useful bits of information about your site and ways to improve it with Woo Rank. There is too much information to list here, so just go to the site and get your Woo Rank. There is a cool ranking section which shows how your site compares to some of the most popular sites on the internet.
